Christmas has come early with the news that these iconic films are getting a brand new home on Netflix.
The Roald Dahl Story Company and Netflix jointly announced today (November 27) that the provider will be extending the Roald Dahl universe with an exclusive new original animated event series.

The series will of course be based on the classic books from the critically acclaimed and award-winning author.
As well as family favourites Willy Wonka and Matilda – and let’s not forget the Oompa-Loompas! – also included in the remake will be The Twits and many more beloved titles.
Roald Dahl’s widow, Felicity Dahl, said:
Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories.
This partnership with Netflix marks a significant move toward making that possible and is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company. Roald would, I know, be thrilled.

The full list of titles in the agreement between Netflix and the Roald Dahl Story Company includes, as well as those already mentioned, Esio Trot, George’s Marvellous Medicine, and The Enormous Crocodile.
Also included are The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, Billy and the Minpins, The Magic Finger, and Rhyme Stew. What more could you ask for?!
Pass me the popcorn because I personally can’t wait to relive my childhood and binge watch all my favourite characters.
Production is set to commence on the first of the Netflix Dahl animated series in 2019.
