NetflixThe Netflix produced Castlevania anime continued to be far better than any of us had any right to expect with its excellent – and brutal – second season.
Great news then, as the streaming service has announced that the show – which is being hailed as one of the best video game adaptations of all time – will live on, confirming a third series just days after the second series arrived on Netflix.
NetflixThe next series of Castlevania will expand from eight episodes to 10, which is great news for any of you hungry for just a little bit more vampiric action per season.
We don’t know what shape the third series will take in terms of story at this point, so far, Warren Ellis will return to write, and it’ll directed by Sam Deats. Ellis serves as executive producer alongside Adi Shankar, Fred Seibert and Kevin Kolde.
Shankar warned fans not to expect the next series to stick to the games, telling IGN:
As much as this show is Castlevania it’s not a tie-in to a video game. This is our own interpretation of Castlevania, call it the Castlevania Cinematic Universe. Characters may pop up a little differently, they might pop up exactly the same. Events may play out exactly the same, things may cause them to deviate. The big thing going into this show is there’s a master plan to the narrative we’re devising.
Castlevania: Season 2 currently has a Metacritic user score of 8.4, based on 50 ratings. It truly is remarkable what people can do with Konami owned IPs when Konami let them.
