Let's be real, playing with Lego doesn't stop at the end of childhood. The possibilities those little bricks and figures offer are endless: from constructing an object according to a manual to creating something unique and capturing it with a camera. The latter is what a digital creator called Brick Panda does!

Brick Panda is an artist based in Budapest, Hungary, who recreates popular movie, TV show and game scenes by using his phone, Lego figures and Photoshop. From "Star Wars" to "The Pirates Of The Caribbean", the artist manages to really convey the essence of these universes in brick form.

#1 The Matrix

Brick Panda bought his first lego set in April 2020, during the lockdown. It was the Barracuda set. The artist revealed that he didn't have Legos as a kid since he's come from a poor family.

He built the set and was completely enchanted by it. Especially by the minifigures. He saw potential, so the artist took a few photos and sent them to his friends and they really liked them. That’s when the idea of photographing his lego figures and sharing pictures with others was born. "So I signed up for a Brick Panda account on Instagram and uploaded a few photos to see if anyone else was interested." As of today, Brick Panda has around 18 thousand Instagram followers!

Brick Panda shared that usually, it takes him at least 2-3 hours to create a perfect scene. "I create the setup, find the right camera angle and adjust the lights. After the shoot, I start working in Photoshop. This is my favorite part. I retouch the photos, adjust the colors, and add effects and backgrounds."

Brick Panda noted that he doesn't think he's a photographer."There are many more skilled Lego photographers out there. I don't even have professional equipment. For example, for lighting, I mostly use my desk lamps. And I don't have a camera, so I take photos with my iPhone. Much of the appeal of my images, I think, comes from Photoshop post-production."

We got curious about what character or a scene was the most enjoyable for the artist to create. Brick Panda shared that he's a huge "Star Wars", "Lord of the Rings" and "Jurassic Park" fan, so these photo series are always the most fun for him to make.

"I also really loved the imaginary Witcher theme. It's imaginary because Lego, unfortunately, didn't release any Witcher figures. So with my shots, I tried to imagine what it would be like if such figures existed. I drew and added the figure textures in Photoshop. I always try to be respectful of all photo subjects."
