Love is an important feeling. Whether it’s parental, romantic, or the one you feel for your pet – it’s powerful and inspires us to do all the great things in life. It gives us the strength to wake up in the morning when things get rough and allows us to feel a sense of belonging on this enormous planet.
Of course, emotional bonds do not always last forever and sometimes, what seemed like an otherwordly connection was simply bound to end. Either way, every relationship, whether it was good or bad, gives us a valuable lesson and teaches us a thing or two about this sometimes confusing life.

Love is a wonderful thing, even if it ends in an unforeseen heartbreak at your local fast-food place

Love was different back in the days. There were no apps that could’ve helped you to find a significant other and everything had to be done in person. Well, this online user took it to Twitter to reveal his rather amusing but gripping story about him falling in love with an Arby’s cashier during the early ’90s. The thread received over 1.6K likes alongside some great comments from fellow readers.

Grant Tanaka, the man behind this breathtaking tale, began his story by explaining that when he was a younger man, there were two things that he was extremely passionate about – his local Arby’s and the cashier that was working there. The woman’s name was Alicia and the author warmly described her as his roast beef goddess.

One day, when he felt courageous enough, he finally decided to have a little talk with his hopefully soon-to-be girlfriend. Later on, Alicia walked by his table and dropped 2 punch cards that allowed one to get a free sandwich for the 10th hole. However, a very pleasant surprise was waiting for him as the woman had already punched the card 9 times.

Naturally, the man was ready to thank her, but Alicia pressed a finger to her lips and told him to enjoy it. The author then proceeded to explain that at that point he would’ve done everything for his Arby’s sweetheart; fight a dragon, climb an 8848-meter mountain – you name it. Knowing that he had received the clearest signal there could be, Tanaka composed himself and officially asked the woman out on a date.

They had an incredible time but when the author woke up, he noticed that Alicia was already gone. However, she once again had left him some Arby’s punch cards right on the nightstand next to his bed. Tanaka called Alicia later in the day, but she never seemed to pick up. Finally, he decided to drive up to the fast-food place and he noticed that she was indeed working. Things were rather odd; Grant revealed that even though she smiled at him, he felt that she wasn’t over the moon about his presence.

The man decided that it would be best to leave this situation alone, so he ordered his food to go, as he was quite upset to eat inside the restaurant. He handed Alicia the punch cards to which she replied with a: “we’ll always have Arby’s, right”. When he went to leave the place for the very last time, Tanaka noticed a young man that was beaming with joy, exactly like he was just a couple of days ago. His heart sank when the man reached into his pocket and took out those 2 punch cards that Alicia also gave him not that long ago.
