Mom Asked Parents To Post Honest And Unstaged Pictures Of Their Rooms, 33 People Deliver

As most of us probably know or can imagine, parenthood isn’t exactly easy and smooth sailing all the time. It is hard work, requiring a lot of energy and dedication. And even though it is arguably one of the most rewarding experiences in life, it can be very tiring. Lack of sleep, canceled plans and messy homes are common symptoms of being a parent. Another thing that might be of worry to parents is expectations from the outside world on how they’re managing, as well as pressure from social media, which is full of pictures of “perfect” families that are never on edge and always doing perfectly well.

One parent decided that it was time to show the world a little bit of realism regarding parenting and started a thread on Twitter, asking other parents if they could share what their rooms look like without all the preparations and filters. And the internet, as always, delivered. Scroll down for the whole story and consider leaving a comment!

This mom was tired of all the “fake” parenting scenarios online and decided to show the internet something more realistic

As mentioned before, some people online tend to show only the perfect side of their lives, where everything is going smoothly and according to plan. This can possibly skew the perception for some parents of what parenthood should look like, which is probably why this mom decided to start such a thread – to show parents online that it is okay to have a messy household when raising kids.

One of the participants in the thread shares that the discussion actually made her feel better and less alone in the world of parenting

Feeling alone in a particular situation certainly doesn’t feel great, especially when it comes to something as important as parenting. In this case, it’s the fact that parents don’t always have to “have it together”, as one of the people who replied to the thread said, and that’s okay. Parenting is hard enough as it is, so there really is no need to prove anything to anyone, especially online, therefore a messy room is most definitely not a problem.

The tweet didn’t take long to go viral with 3.3k likes and 619 retweets

Statistics aside, the thread was a great success. Lots of parents were engaging with the original post and began sharing their own parenting and household scenarios, most of which were, as originally prompted, quite messy.

When raising kids, it is pretty easy to get and stay messy, possibly due to lack of time and energy to constantly clean up

When you’re a parent, you pretty much have to multi-task all the time, since if you’re not busy with your kids, you will be busy with something else. So it is really no wonder that sometimes parents just don’t have enough time and energy to maintain a perfectly orderly environment when it comes to things being in their right place all the time.

Sometimes all it really takes to feel better about your situation is when you see something very messy

It is fairly common for people to find peace in somebody else’s woes, and sometimes that’s quite alright, especially when it comes to the less significant things. From hearing “I haven’t started my assignment” to seeing the image above, people do then sometimes think they’re not doing too bad.

All in all, these pictures do show that one extra challenge of parenting, which is keeping everything in the house in order and in its respective place. To some it may sound like mission impossible, but it is still probably good to know that a lot of parents struggle with this, and that’s okay!
