Video games and dark humor may seem an unlikely combination at first glance, but once you see Mart Virkus' comics that blend them together, you'll realize that it's actually a match made in heaven. As most gamers know, there's plenty of situations in games that lend their hand for dark and unexpected twists, memes, jokes, and much more. As most dark humor lovers know, you can make a dark joke out of everything, and video games and pop culture are no different in this regard. Comics are a very generous medium, as they have a place for both the dark humor, and topics like video games and pop culture. But of course, there's much more to find in these comics than just dark humor or odd mentions of video games, so without further ado, we present to you the second part of "Arcade Rage" comics (you may find the first one here).

Mart has been very kind and has given yet another exclusive interview for Bored Panda. He started by talking about his favorite comic.."My all-time favorite comic is Perry Bible Fellowship—definitely a big inspiration when I started drawing. I love how he’s able to get the joke across without necessarily using words—like a silent punchline."
As for where did he get his sense of humor from, he wittily responded: "I have no idea, that’s probably something to unpack in therapy."

Mart also gave a sneak-peek into his process. "I spend a lot of time just doodling random things in a notebook, like band logos, comic characters, and guns or whatever. When I get a comic idea I try to quickly get it on paper too. It doesn’t have to be good at first, I can always add or remove things later. But once that basic idea is down, it kinda gets the creative juices flowing. And once I start drawing the comic then other ideas start coming up, like a domino effect."

The creator of "Arcade Rage" comics has given a few words of wisdom for those who would like to one day become comic creators themselves. "I would say just do it, you have nothing to lose! Don’t worry about publishing them right away, just get into the habit of drawing as often as possible.
Try different things, maybe draw characters from other comics to get some practice. You can also try turning memes into a comic format. Or draw things you like, like video game characters. Draw scenes from a movie. If you hear a good joke, try drawing that out.
Most of all, it’s just important to get into the habit of doing it. Also, don’t quit when things don’t work out at first. My very first webcomic was very, very basic."

From time to time, the artists are also avid readers of Bored Panda. We've asked Mart if he's that type of artist, and he replied: "Well, I could’ve finished this interview earlier, but I got stuck on Bored Panda, so there you go!"
The artist also shared some exciting plans for the future: "I want to open up my merch shop again, but I’ve been pretty busy at work. Dealing with the shop setup and taxes right now just feels like extra work. I will probably make a New Year’s resolution to reopen it though."
He also shared what he's been up to lately. "A friend of mine wrote a book about her experience working in the startup world while raising kids, and I drew the cover art for it. The book is called “Idulaps” but I think it’ll only be available in Estonian—at least at first."
