51 Photos Taken By Girlfriends Vs Photos Taken By Boyfriends

The human mind is truly amazing and capable of many things; however, our memories of even the most important things in our lives tend to fade away. That is why people like taking pictures so much—the memory of an important moment will last as long as the photo will. Furthermore, you can show it to people, unlike with a memory in your head.

People take pictures of significant events or when they are having fun. And a funny tendency can be noticed when looking through millions of photos on the internet, which is that oftentimes when a girlfriend is taking a picture of her boyfriend, she will make him look amazing in the photo, but when it's vice versa, the photos turn out pretty bad quality and taken with unflattering lighting or at an unflattering angle.

The proof is in the pudding, because this is part 3 in a series Bored Panda is continuing on the trend popular on Twitter where girlfriends post side-by-side pictures to see the difference between them taking a photo and their boyfriends taking one. If you missed out on the previous parts, click here and here to see them.

Of course, this is a stereotype and there are boyfriends who are capable of taking photos that are comparable to the ones professionals take, but it’s fun to see the tendency and to explore why that could be.

There are people who claim that women and men don’t have different ‘brains’ or different ‘logics,’ but scientists keep finding proof of how men and women perceive the world differently.

It is often repeated that men look at the bigger picture and women tend to see the details. Maybe this could explain why every single photo girls post has the right lighting, the right angle, a beautiful background and a thought-out pose.

The abstract thinking for men may mean that the details are secondary and that is why the photos sometimes come out blurry, with their girlfriend's head half cut off; however, we should agree that the details are what make the photos come together and enjoyable to look at many years later.

There are a lot more stereotypes that people attribute solely to women or men. For example, that women are the emotional ones and men are the logical ones, or that women park worse than men because they don’t have spatial awareness.

Though these things may sound like nonsense because you know people that are not like the stereotypes paint them to be, there are actual physical differences in men’s and women’s brains that contribute to the difference of thinking.

Stanford Medicine magazine published an article “The cognitive differences between men and women” by Bruce Goldman that discusses the differences between male and female brains, behavior and why they are how they are.

The author of this article cites professor of neurobiology and behavior Larry Cahill, who scanned the brains of men and women when they were watching various movies and hypothesized that the clips causing stronger emotions would be better remembered later, and that women would be the ones who remembered more.

The researcher concluded that “Activity in the amygdala during the viewing experience, as expected, predicted subjects’ later ability to recall the viewed clips. But in women, this relationship was observed only in the left amygdala. In men, it was only in the right amygdala. Cahill and others have since confirmed these results.”

There are many papers written about how women and men differ, but there are as many which argue that. However, stereotypes don’t come out of nowhere so they can represent some of the tendencies. It’s fun to explore them and not take them too seriously, like in lists like these, as the photo differences are quite amusing.

What do you think of these photos? Do you believe the differences are determined by the gender of the photographer, or do you have another explanation? Comment your reactions and upvote the photo pairs that made you snicker.
