No doubt you know who Britney Spears is and hence need no introduction. She took the world by storm in the late ‘90s, leading one of the most successful careers among singers to date.
But a decade later, the pop star ran into some trouble that consequently led to the court placing her under a conservatorship. Well, today is the day she said “enough is enough” and appealed to the court to end her conservatorship.
And celebrities from all over the globe are coming together to support Britney in her struggle. The likes of Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey and Halsey, among many others, are expressing their support for her on various social media with the hashtag #FreeBritney.

For those unaware, back in 2008, Britney Spears was put under a court-mandated arrangement, a conservatorship, which is a legal arrangement that has effectively put her father and a team of lawyers in strict control of her life.
This followed after her refusal to relinquish custody of her sons, being hospitalized, being committed to psychiatric care and other factors. And since then, for 13 years, she has been living under this court order.
And people can’t stop cheering her on for finally taking this step, with a bunch of celebs expressing support on Twitter

Until this Wednesday, when in a court hearing, Britney asked a judge to end her conservatorship, saying that she just wants her life back. She explained that all these years were demoralizing and embarrassing, taking offense from people who would hence question her mental capacity.
She also added that the arrangement has effectively prevented her from living a normal life. While she wishes to get married and have another kid, the conservatorship doesn’t even allow her to make a doctor’s appointment to remove her IUD.

The thing that got everyone talking was her allegations that she was forced to use a birth control device that was inserted into her body against her will. “This conservatorship is abusive,” Spears concluded.
This legal agreement effectively put her in shackles, to a point where she can’t make personal life decisions any more

And in turn, this sparked a slew of support for her. One of the most notable voices, Spears’ ex-partner Justin Timberlake, went to Twitter and urged everyone to channel positivity towards her despite her past as “what’s happening to her is just not right.”
Since her court hearing, people have been showering her with support under the hashtag #FreeBritney
