Two single priorities in any delivery room around the world are the health and safety of the baby and mother. It’s where many things can go wrong, so a health assessment and physical exam of the newborn starts right away. Even the first bath is done right in your room.
So it’s only fair for a mother to decide who she wants and who she doesn’t in that room when she’s at her most vulnerable. But one 28-year-old pregnant woman who’s a first-time mom has a mother-in-law who seems to believe otherwise.
“My mother-in-law (MIL) made comments early on that she wanted to be there for the birth, and this woman is not subtle,” the mom-to-be wrote in a post on r/AITA which went viral, amassing 20.5k upvotes.
And it seems that her husband, whom she wanted to be in the delivery room, had the back of his mom. The argument quickly escalated and now the author is no longer sure whether she was right to rudely tell her husband she doesn’t want his mom in the room.
