First of all, you should never ever give anything that contains alcohol to your cat. Cats are much smaller than us and can be highly affected by small amounts of alcohol. So the next time you serve yourself a glass of chardonnay, please be cautious if your cat is around.

Secondly, avocados are not the best food to feed your cat since their leaves, fruit, bark, and seeds have all been reported to be toxic. The dangerous component in the avocado is “persin,” which is a fatty acid derivative. Even if a small piece of fresh avocado fruit probably won’t harm your friend, it’s still best to avoid it altogether.

Thirdly, you should not feed your cat baked goods since baking soda and baking powder are both leavening agents that can be toxic to cats. Ingestion of large amounts of baking soda or baking powder can lead to electrolyte abnormalities (low potassium, low calcium, and/or high sodium), congestive heart failure, or muscle spasms.

Lastly, anything that contains bones should never be on your feline’s menu. Fish, chicken, and meat bones can get stuck or caught in their mouths and damage their intestines. Bacterial contamination found on the bone can also lead to illness.

Also, we now know that xylitol, an artificial sweetener used as an alternative to sugar, is highly toxic to dogs. Even though its effect is not entirely established on cats, it’s safest to avoid all the products that contain xylitol in any shape or form.
