Guy Gets Accused Of ‘Catfishing’ And Banned From Tinder After This Girl Reported His Profile Pic

Our beloved Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian is a real heartbreaker and Tinder account wrecker. So if you want a happy love life, stay away from Baby Yoda! That’s the lesson that 21-year-old Chicago comedian Carter Hambley learned after a very weird encounter on the dating app.

Carter got reported for catfishing and was banned from Tinder just because he photoshopped Baby Yoda into his profile pic. Somebody couldn’t take a joke and blamed the comedian for something that he obviously didn’t want to do.

In case you didn’t know, catfishing is when somebody creates a fake online persona in order to lure you into a relationship or take advantage of you in some other way. In this case, Carter wasn’t catfishing because you can see him and his honest to God love of Star Wars in his photo.

Catfishing is all about lying about who you are, what you do, what you like, and what you look like, all for the sake of some unethical goal. Some scammers do this in order to lure money out of people’s pockets. While others like to build online relationships and create the illusion that they’re romantically involved with someone, even though they’ve never met in real life.

If you want to know if you’re being catfished on dating sites or on social media, the golden rule is this: if you think it’s too good to be true, it probably is. But if you want to make darn sure, then you can try verifying the mysterious stranger’s identity.

Suggest video chatting or calling them. And if you’re feeling particularly brave, offer to meet them in person (just remember to stick to crowded places and to let your friends know where and when you’re going out).

Chances are, a catfish will use every excuse in the book to wriggle their way out of any contact where their ‘perfect’ online persona could shatter. Meanwhile, Carter was completely upfront about what he looks like and that he likes Baby Yoda. He’s the opposite of a catfish—he’s a dogwhale if you will (and if that’s not a thing, it totally should be!).

Here’s how people reacted to Carter’s story. Some of them even had similar tales to tell
