The coronavirus pandemic isn’t going anywhere and neither are the safety guidelines that people should follow. Unfortunately, some people are still reluctant to wear face masks, which help slow down the spread of Covid-19.
Well, Allen Pan, the founder of the Sufficiently Advanced YouTube channel, has a solution to the anti-masker problem that’s especially visible in the US. Surprisingly, his answer was to make a gun. A gun that shoots masks. Onto people’s faces.
It not only sounds amazing—it looks great, too. Scroll down, check out Pan’s video where he even tests the mask out on himself, and let us know in the comments what you think of the mask gun, dear Pandas.

Here’s what it looks like. It’s like something from a sci-fi movie, right?

“It feels like people just aren’t wearing masks. And they should be! So what are we going to do about it? What am I going to do about it? Well, I could make a fun educational video about how safe and effective masks are like a flamethrower on the mouth and a mask. No! No! There are so many smart people that have made good videos. If that worked, it would have worked by now,” the YouTube engineer explained in his video why he decided to create the mask gun.
With over a million subscribers on YouTube, Pan’s idea to ‘solve’ the pandemic problem using his prototype mask-launcher made quite a splash on the net. It’s hard not to notice that the entire situation is very American: Pan’s using the Second Amendment to try and solve the anti-masker issue.
The way that Pan’s mask gun/launcher works is simple. The launcher is made with a pneumatic system powered by a compact carbon dioxide canister that’s hooked up to a solenoid. Meanwhile, the mask has weight magnets at the end of the strings that wrap around the back of the target’s head and stick together.
Pan also thought about accuracy quite a bit—he didn’t want to injure anyone by hitting them with a mask other than their mouths. So he attached a laser to the launcher to help him aim. Besides Pan, some residents of Huntington Beach in California tried out his gun, too.
