There’s nothing in this world quite like dog loyalty, but this story goes above it. It all started when an elderly man who fell ill with coronavirus was taken to Wuhan Taikang Hospital in Hubei Province, China back in February. Sadly, he passed away 5 days later.
But his dog Xiao Bao, the 7-year-old mongrel, was not giving up. According to the hospital cleaner Zhu Youzhen, 65, the boi waited in the hospital lobby for his owner to return. The days passed, but Xiao Bao, whose name means “Little Treasure,” refused to leave. After three months, the Taikang hospital staff started getting complaints about Xiao roaming the corridors. He was then handed to the Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association, where he hopefully found a new forever family. And no, I am not crying, you are.

According to NY Post, Wu Cuifen, who runs the store on the first floor of the hospital building, said that after Xiao Bao’s owner was admitted to hospital due to Covid-19 complications, she tried to send the dog away.
The woman commented: “Then he passed away, but Xiao Bao didn’t know and just stayed in the hospital looking for him. He never left the hospital. It was incredibly touching, and so loyal.”
But Wu bonded with Xiao Bao and later brought him to the store. She told the reporters that “although Xiao Bao can’t speak, we understand that he is definitely still looking for his owner.”
