New York is a city bustling with people. As one would expect from a mega-city, the traffic is always intense and packed, since everyone has their own things to do. It’s natural for people in such a city to be somewhat indifferent towards their environment, as everyone is inside their phone, mostly. Mostly. Because sometimes, something brilliant might happen. The concrete jungle is always wild and unpredictable. And when it happens, people drop what they’re doing, forget their own little worries for a while, and they rejoice.

There’s one little dog in NYC who has the great responsibility of doing just that. One could argue that the little corgi, Maxine, has become an unofficial mascot of sorts for the New York subway. She inspires cheerfulness and good vibes wherever she goes. The owner, being perceptive, noticed that and started filming the crowd’s reactions as they commuted. She spends most of the commute tucked neatly inside her owner’s backpack so that people won’t step on Maxine’s tiny feet and she won’t get lost in the crowd.

The pair has become somewhat famous, as they’ve climbed over the 300k Instagram follower mark, and judging by the increasing reactions from the pedestrians, Maxine isn’t planning on losing her charm soon. As it ironically turns out, Max not only likes to spread cheer⁠—she also likes actual cheerios. I guess for Maxine, receiving a cheerio is as satisfying as inspiring cheer. Either way, let’s hope we meet her someday on the subway, cause it would, for sure, save one’s day. Oh, and by the way, this isn’t the first time this fluffball was featured on Bored Panda.
