PA/GettyDonald Trump took to his favourite platform, Twitter, to launch a bizarre attack on planes following the crash in Ethiopia.
I don’t think we could have expected anything else from the POTUS, really.
Flight ET302, travelling from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, to Nairobi in Kenya, crashed on March 10 just six minutes after taking off.
The aviation disaster was the deadliest in Ethiopa’s history, killing all 149 passengers and eight crew members. It was the second Boeing 737 Max aircraft crash in less than five months.
PAAs a result, British regulators have grounded those particular planes.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority explained the decision in a statement, saying:
The UK Civil Aviation Authority has been closely monitoring the situation, however, as we do not currently have sufficient information from the flight data recorder we have, as a precautionary measure, issued instructions to stop any commercial passenger flights from any operator arriving, departing or overflying UK airspace.

Rather than simply sparing a respectful thought for those who lost their lives in the crash, Trump decided to take his frustration out on planes in general.
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t fly that private jet of his by himself, but still the president argued plane technology has become far too complicated, and that you’d have to be a genius to understand how it works.
He tweeted:
Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT. I see it all the time in many products.
Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better. Split second decisions are needed, and the complexity creates danger.
All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!

Now, I’m pretty sure the improved technology does have its benefits, and I’m confident engineers wouldn’t actively aim to create planes that were simply too complicated to fly – it would be quite the waste of their time.
But still, Trump is adamant simplicity and ease is the way forward.
I wonder what he’d have to say if he set off on his next presidential trip [to the golf course] on a glider?
Ridiculous.
