Son Tweets About Dad’s Empty Doughnut Shop Opening, Thousands Arrive

Sometimes – amid all the nasty trolls and bickering – social media can produce beautiful, meaningful connections which restore our faith in humanity.

A Texas man by the name of Billy By has proven himself to be a true superhero of Twitter, letting people know how awesome his dad’s – sadly overlooked – new doughnut shop was.

Billy tweeted a picture of his dad’s new Houston-based doughnut shop, with a delectable close-up shot of the doughnuts themselves.

One picture wasn’t quite so appetizing however, showing Billy’s poor dad standing – crestfallen and alone – behind the counter of his empty doughnut shop.

Despite his delicious produce, nobody was coming to try out the delectable desserts, and Billy knew he had to do something to boost business.

Taking to Twitter, Billy made the following plea, complete with a crying-floods-of-tears emoji face:

My dad is sad cause no one is coming to his new donut shop

Billy also gave the address of the shop, in the hope that somebody would stop by and make his dad’s day. He couldn’t have guessed the response he received.

People couldn’t bear to see the forlorn business owner surrounded by his tasty treats, and the tweet soon went viral.

Very quickly, people were flocking to ‘Billy’s Donuts’ in droves, and were delighted by the yumminess on offer. Very soon, the shop was completely cleaned out of doughnuts and kolaches, with people finally clocking on to Billy’s dad’s talents.

Stuffed to the brim with ‘awesome’ and ‘SO good’ doughnuts, Billy’s followers were also full of kindness, praising Billy for being such a great son.

One person blubbed:

Literally sat in tears going through all the tweets! I wish you the best of luck in the future of your business!

Another happy-sobbed:

Thank you. I don’t know this man or live anywhere near Texas but it makes me so unspeakably happy that you went to his store and bought doughnuts. I might actually cry.

Those who were left devastated by the sight of Billy’s dad on his lonesome in his empty shop were thoroughly cheered by a much happier follow-up pic of the business owner beaming with his son.

Billy tweeted:

Just wanted to update yall! We completely sold out of donuts and kolaches! You are all amazing. I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting local businesses. This means so much to my family.

This is – quite literally – the sweetest story I’ve heard all day. And I would literally give anything for a powdery, freshly made doughnut right now…
