Darren Till was knocked out by Jorge Masvidal at UFC London in vicious fashion.

The main event opened with an immediate strike to Till’s groin from Masvidal, however the scouse fighter was eager to restart the action, touching gloves and then promptly flooring his American opponent with a strong right hand.

Till was taken to the ground by Masvidal before the midpoint of the second but forced his way back to a standing position, and having broken free from the clinch the fight became a battle of attrition.

It was a battle Masvidal would win, sending the Liverpudlian crashing to the canvas with a nasty combination of overhand lefts after 3:05 of round two.

Check it out:

Prior to the main event of the evening fans witnessed Gunnar Nelson and Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards go toe-to-toe in a welterweight bout.

Edwards would claim victory via split decision (29-28, 29-27, 28-29) after the three-round fight went the distance.

Nelson survived a surprising display of grappling prowess from his opponent, plus a vicious elbow thrown in the opening round – it is to Nelson’s credit he took the shot and fought on through the ground and pound which followed.

History was made by another Liverpudlian fighter at the O2 Arena as Molly McCann became the first English female fighter to exit the UFC Octagon with a win.

In a dogged performance ‘Meatball’ Molly dominated her bout with Brazil’s Priscila Cachoeira, but took significant damage to her right eye in the process.

McCann wasn’t going to let the damage stand between her and glory, convincing the cageside doctor she was fit to continue and closing out the fight.

McCann later shared a video with fans via Instagram en route for a more thorough medical examination.

There was more on the mind of some fighters than calling out an opponent for an upcoming bout.

Hawaii’s Dan Ige and Cláudio Silva of Brazil each utilised their post fight interviews to reflect on the tragic events which unfolded in Christchurch, New Zealand, Friday March 15.

After a brutal display of dominance Ige submitted Dan Henry via a rear naked choke just one minute and 17 seconds into the first round of their featherweight bout.

Ige said:

I want to send my thoughts, my prayers to everyone out in New Zealand…

It doesn’t matter your race, your skin color, your religion. We all bleed the same. I love you guys.

The evening also saw confirmation the UK’s first and only UFC champion to date, Michael Bisping, will be entering the promotion’s Hall of Fame.

Congratulations are certainly in order!
