EmojipediaEmojis are an art form; what better way to express ourselves than a cheeky eye roll or a hair flick? And don’t even get me started on the iconic flamenco dancer.
Give it a few years and museums will be displaying our favourite emojis for all to see. Masterpieces by Picasso and Vincent van Gogh will soon be forgotten, replaced by smiley faces and thumbs up symbols.
Alright, maybe not, but it remains true that emojis liven up the ordinary text of social media and allow people to express themselves in a more jazzy way than words do.
Sometimes though, they can become a bit limited; there’s only so many times you can use the sassy hair flick in a conversation before you get bored. Who am I kidding, there’s no limit on sass.
Regardless, it’s always nice to have a new addition to the group and with Emojipedia unveiling the new emoji list for 2019, we’ve got 230 of them to contend with this year.
Forget about most of them though. In fact, forget about 229 of them for now because one new emoji in particular has got tongues wagging – and that’s the ‘pinching hand’ symbol.

Because yes, while it may look like a hand that’s about to pinch something, it’s also the well known gesture people make when suggesting something is small.
In particular, it’s the shaming gesture people make to describe small penises. In fact, it’s so well recognised that if you tried to use it for anything other than penis size, you’ll probably confuse the hell out of people.
So obviously, this new edition to the world of emojis has caused quite the stir, with people saying that the pinching hand will literally only ever be used in reference to small dicks. So, sorry guys.

No more will women have to stand back and watch guys overestimate their smaller than average sized penises with the aubergine emoji (although let’s be honest, that will definitely still happen).
Instead, we now have an emoji which can represent the smaller appendages of the world – although this will 100 per cent only be used by women. Guaranteed.
The pinching hand isn’t the only emoji to grace our screens this year though, and it definitely isn’t the most important as the new editions are inclusive to a wider range of people.
The new emojis include people with various disabilities, a gender inclusive couple, as well as emojis which permit a mix of skin tones for people holding hands.
2019 is already looking like a great year for representation then (especially for the small dicks out there).
