It’s been said before and it’s going to be said again – we’re living in a golden age of TV.
One such example was the surprise hit, Killing Eve, which went down an absolute storm with viewers and became one of the BBC’s biggest success stories of the last few years.
It was unsurprising then that the show was swiftly picked up for a second season.
BBC America president Sarah Barnett said last year, via Digital Spy:
The early response to Killing Eve has been incredible – for that reason, as well as the fact that we wholeheartedly love this original, funny, thrillingly entertaining series, we are delighted to move ahead with a second season before we even premiere.
The news was exciting for fans of the darkly comic show, though frustrating as it meant an indeterminate wait for the second series to arrive.
Now however, on Valentine’s Day no less, BBC America have decided to grace us with the first look at what we can expect from Killing Eve part two.
Check it out:
From the looks of it, season two is set to pick up just moments after the end of season one, with Eve on the phone saying: ‘I think I might have killed her’. Is she talking about Villanelle? Or is this a separate issue perhaps?
However, as the trailer goes on, we see Villanelle fall out of a hospital bed and, later, march down a road clutching old wounds. So it looks like the game of cat and mouse is still very much on.
Accompanying the video is also the premier date – April 7. That is, however, for BBC America. Though I’m sure the series will be released to fans elsewhere in the world shortly after. Or hopefully at the same time.
The thriller follows the lives of two women – Eve, an MI5 agent played by Sandra Oh, and Villanelle, an assassin played by Jodie Comer – as Eve tries to track down the dangerous assassin.
Speaking about the show, Sandra Oh told the BBC:
It’s a unique world of the spy thriller, and a real character story between these two women, and their need to find each other. There is a lot of wit and humour in it. It’s a real kind of a mash up – a new voice and a new genre.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Season 2 of Killing Eve premieres on BBC America on April 7.
