An incredibly lucky and resilient cat has been saved by a vet after she was discovered ‘essentially frozen and unresponsive’.
Poor Fluffy didn’t quite live up to her name when she was found by her owners in a snow bank on January 31. Instead, her fur was matted with snow after getting caught in the chilling temperatures which had hit Kalispell, Montana, US.
The city was experiencing temperatures between -1°C (30°F) and -8°C degrees (17°F), as well as icy fog and snow.
The cat was unresponsive when she was found, but her owners didn’t give up hope and took her to the Animal Clinic of Kalispell, where doctors took her temperature.
Dr. Jevon Clark from the clinic told ABC News the average temperature for a cat is around 38°C (101°F), but on a thermometer with a bottom range of 32°C (90°F), Fluffy’s cold temperature didn’t even register.
In a bid to save the kitty, staff at the animal clinic tried to heat her up with warm water and blankets, but after two hours her temperature was still dangerously low.
The vets persisted, and thankfully after a few hours the formerly unresponsive feline began to show signs of recovery. Presumably falling back on one of her other nine lives, the cat made a full recovery and it wasn’t long before she was back to her normal self, fluffy fur and all.

Thank so much for your fast and loving care!! Heroes
Fluffy has since returned home to be with her owners, though she’s had some lifestyle changes following her terrible ordeal.
According to ABC, her owners have decided to make the lovely pet an indoor cat to avoid the elements harming her again.
The vets certainly did incredible work to save Fluffy, I’m sure she’ll be glad to be staying out of the cold weather from now on!
