UbisoftUbisoft announced a remaster of 2012’s Assassin’s Creed III back in September last year as part of the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey season pass of premium content.
We now have a release date of March 29 for the polished up stealth adventure. Those with the Odyssey season pass will have the game on this day, while those that don’t can still go out and buy it separately, if they so wish.
UbisoftThe remaster will include all the shiny bells and whistles you’d expect, such as 4K resolution and HDR support. You’ll also be able to feast your eyes on higher resolution textures and a few tweaks and improvements to gameplay.
But wait – there’s more! No, really there is. Assassin’s Creed III Remastered will come with all of the original game’s post launch content, including the Tyranny of King Washington expansion.
The Odyssey season pass will also offer a remaster of the Vita spinoff Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, which will also be available on March 29, though non season pass holders will have to pick it up separately from the ACIII remaster.
Both remasters will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, but not Nintendo Switch. This comes despite various retailers leaking the existence of a Switch port. Perhaps Nintendo are waiting to announce this version themselves during a Direct?
UbisoftAssassin’s Creed III and Liberation are set in the United States in the mid-to-late 18th century. III takes place during the pre-Revolutionary War in Boston, while Liberation takes players to New Orleans.
The third “core” AC game in the franchise is either the very best in the series, or the absolute worst depending on who you ask. Personally, I sit somewhere in the middle; It’s not as good as ACII, but it’s still a fantastic game.
