Dryliners in UK/FacebookA viral video shows the moment a rogue builder destroyed a Travelodge hotel using a JCB digger over an alleged row about £600 worth of wages.
The footage shows the angry worker, believed to be called David, plough into the newly built Travelodge on Edge Lane, Liverpool, just before 3pm today (January 21).
Mounting the steps in front of the hotel, which was built at the Liverpool Innovation Park, the arm of the digger crashes into the glass, tearing through the entrance.
Dryliners in UK/FacebookAs dozens of colleagues watch on, the digger goes through the now-torn front door, crashing into walls as well as the hotel’s front desk once inside.
One co-worker can be heard yelling in the video, which was shared on the Facebook group ‘Dryliners in UK‘:
That’s what happens when people don’t pay your wages, mate. You just don’t shit on the job. He’s a sick man. Oh my God, he’s not arsed. Right through the building.
After the damage had been done, the driver quickly fled the scene.

A source told The Sun the driver was missing £600 from his pay packet, hence the angry retort.
The source said:
Nobody could believe their eyes. The man just went crazy. Everyone said he’d had an issue over his pay and he was saying he was owed £600.
But even if that’s true, to smash up a building is just beyond belief.
Over on social media, especially in the comments section below the Facebook video, many have shown their support for the worker, however, quite a lot have criticised him.
The hotel was due to open to soon, so the incident means plans have now been put back.
Merseyside Police have surrounded the building with metal fencing as they carry out enquiries and have confirmed one man was treated by paramedics at the scene.
At the time of writing, no arrests have been made.
I was working on this job for 8 months, saw it happen. My dad's video!

In a statement provided to The Liverpool Echo, Merseyside Police added:
We are appealing for information after damage was caused to a hotel under construction in Liverpool today (Monday 21 January 2019).
A report was received shortly before 3pm that the digger was being driven into the entrance of the Travelodge building in the Liverpool Innovation Park. The driver then left the vehicle and made off on foot in the direction of Edge Lane.
One man experienced eye irritation due to exposure to diesel and was treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service.
It is not believed anyone else was injured during the incident. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services and contractors attended to ensure the site was safe.
The Sun adds Travelodge are yet to respond to a request for comment.
