EAIf you can’t wait to get your hands on BioWare’s upcoming action RPG Anthem, like the greedy child I assume you are, then I’ve some good news for you.
Publisher EA has just announced an impending closed alpha, and you can sign up for it now ahead of the testing period which kicks off next week.
EAEA’s announced on their website that the test will only run between December 8 – 9, but it will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s important to note that the alpha will run over “multiple sessions”, instead of it being constantly available to everyone over the weekend.
EA explained the purpose of the Anthem alpha:
It’s an opportunity for you to check out Anthem but we’ll also be adjusting things like matchmaking and server load on the fly. These Community Playtests are more limited than what we want to share in the pre-launch demos. All of these factors combined mean that we’re making access to our Playtests limited, which is where the ‘closed’ part of the name comes from.
If you’re interested, you can head here to specify your platform and the windows you’d be available to participate in over the weekend. Obviously, signing up isn’t a guarantee of access, and you’ll need a PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold membership to play on those respective platforms.
Unfortunately, any one who does get accepted will be bound by an NDA, which means that they won’t be able to share any screenshots, impressions, or images of their time with Anthem.
EAEA and BioWare do plan to deliver an Anthem demo early next year before the game launches in February, so if you don’t get to join in on the close alpha, you’ll still get your shot eventually.
If you have absolutely no interest in Anthem, that’s fine too (although kind of weird that you’re reading this article). BioWare recently teased new Dragon Age and Mass Effect titles.
