In a time when social media means we’re able to follow celebrities’ every move, it’s easy to get caught up in judging them, especially when they’re living their best lives and we’re…well, not.
Which is why it’s so refreshing to see someone use their fame to make people’s lives better, if only because it gives us a glimpse into the kind of person they really are.
Enter: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, renowned actor and former regular professional wrestler, who’s now a granter of wishes for children going through incredibly difficult times.
In a heart-warming video posted to his Twitter account, the Fast and Furious actor surprised a group of children with, first of all, his presence, and then gifts, followed by food.
He wrote:
I don’t know why things happen to kids the way they do. Why they get hit with hard times.
But I do know these kids are way stronger than I’ll ever be and granting wishes and playing a very small role in making ‘em smile will always be the best part of my fame. #wishgrantday

In the video, The Rock can be seen standing on the set of Hobbs & Shaw, the upcoming action film and spin-off of Fast and Furious, in which he’s starring.
He then speaks to the camera, saying:
It is a very, very special day. We have some very special visitors on set… PJ, Cameron, and Lucy – from Make a Wish Foundation, Rays of Sunshine Foundation, and Starlight Foundation.
The camera then cuts to the actor walking on set and introducing himself to the three children – all of whom look absolutely shell-shocked by his surprise appearance.
He then says to the children, as he holds up an Xbox pass:
I got you guys like a full year of just like, free games. So, I know you guys don’t have an Xbox but, you do now, because I got these made for you.
As he says this, he hands over some custom-made Xbox consoles to the children, who seemingly can’t believe their luck as they look at each other in shock – one little boy covers his face with his hands.
And it seems Johnson is just the gift which keeps on giving because he then starts handing out homemade cookies to each of them.
He says, as he hands out the boxes:
I baked my special DJ signature chocolate chip cookies. There you go.
Unsurprisingly, the children loved the entire day and described it as ‘absolutely incredible’ and ‘a dream come true’.
The Rock then ends the video by saying:
I’ve got the best job in the world. This kind of stuff is easily the best part of my fame. Lucky.
Here’s my special Wish Granting Day with amazing kids who have had a very rough go in this crazy, unpredictable thing we call life. And the irony here is I’m their “wish” and inspiration – but little do they know, they’re mine. I’m a lucky SOB. Enjoy ..https://t.co/yKWcswfZb4

One of the children’s parents appeared to be lost for words, saying their family had been through a lot of tough times so it was ‘amazing’ to see what Johnson had done.
It truly is heart-warming to see such a big celebrity use their fame and fortune to treat those in need, and to give them a day they’ll never forget.
I’m not crying, you are.
