PlayStation Classic Games Run Better On The SNES Mini, Apparently

Through the magic of emulation, it turns out you can actually run PlayStation games on the SNES Classic, breaking all laws of God and man in the process.

As it turns out, the SNES Classic actually does a better job of running PlayStation games that the official PlayStation Classic, a disappointing console by all accounts, with a strange selection of games that left many excited for the novelty device feeling cold.

Nintendo Life first reported on a video posted by 8 Bit Flashback, which shows the difference between the two consoles using Ridge Racer Type 4, after hacking the mini SNES  to run PSX games.

The hacked SNES Classic is running the PCSX ReARMed emulator with Retroarch, and they decided to test Ridge Racer because it’s apparently one of the worst running games on the PS Classic.

Check out the video for yourself below if you want to see a SNES outperform a PlayStation (kind of).

The PS Classic hasn’t had the best time of it. After an awful lot of hype and expectation from fans of the original console, the device launched with a mix of 20 games that ranged from classic (Grand Theft Auto) to the bizarre (Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo), with many lamenting the lack of actual hits like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater or Spyro.

More recently, it turned out that the console is actually really easy to hack into, and hackers are already at work replacing some of the more obscure games on the console with the likes of Crash Bandicoot.
