A free copy of the excellent Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is being given to those who get involved with Google’s Project Stream test.

For those who might not be aware, Project Stream is Google’s ambitious attempt at cloud gaming, with the idea being that you can play AAA quality games like AC Odyssey in your browser.

It’s wild, awesome sounding stuff, and Ubisoft teamed up with Google to offer the latest Assassin’s Creed game for Project Stream’s first big test which started back in October.

It’s worth noting that this offer is only for those who can actually participate in the Project Stream test, so it’s only open to those based in the US, unfortunately. Sorry, rest of the world.

If you do fit the bill, however, all you need to do is head over to the Project Stream website and sign up. If you’re successful, you’ll be able to continue playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey through Uplay PC once the Project Stream test is over.

Any progress made in the game as you’re playing it on Project Stream will be transferred over to your new PC copy, as well as any items you’ve purchased with in-game credits – but be aware that any unspent credits will not transfer over.

Obviously, if this test period is a success, it could have massive implications for the gaming industry going forward. The concept of being able to stream high quality AAA titles in your internet browser is mind blowing, to be honest.

The Project Stream test concludes January 15, so if you are eligible to join in and give it a go, you might as well sign up now and grab yourself a free game for your troubles.
