Scrubs Cast Reunite For First Time Since The Show Ended

The Scrubs cast and creator reunited last night (November 17), a whole eight years after the final episode aired.

The US hit show aired for the last time in 2010 after nine seasons, meaning we were no longer able to follow the adventures of trainee doctors JD (Zach Braff), Elliot (Sarah Chalke) and Turk (Donald Faison) as they worked to become fully fledged doctors at teaching hospital Sacred Heart.

But now members of the cast have given us all the nostalgia after they attended a special event together, reuniting as a group for the first time since filming ended.

Stars of the hit show attended the Vulture Festival last night, including Braff, Chalke, and Faison. Christa Miller (Jordan Sullivan), Neil Flynn (Janitor), Ken Jenkins (Bob Kelso), Judy Reyes (Carla Espinosa) and John C. McGinley (Perry) also attended, alongside the show’s creator Bill Lawrence.

Braff posted to his Twitter account to announce the reunion the day before, to which Scrubs fans responded with celebratory GIF’s and excited words.

He wrote, alongside a picture of the original cast:

Tomorrow we reunite for one night only. @vulturefestival

A man of few words (unlike his Scrubs character J.D.). And as promised, the entire crew turned up to the event at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles to talk about the good times, pose for group pictures and talk about the possibility of another season.

However, it would appear that we probably won’t be seeing the return of Sacred Heart – at least not anytime soon – as Lawrence revealed that a reboot wouldn’t feel right.

Speaking on stage, the show’s creator admitted:

I would do anything to get to work with not only this group but the writers… and do it again. It was the best time in my life, so much so that I often find myself now trying to grab a gold ring, y’know that I’ve already been lucky enough to have grabbed before. You can never equal that experience.

That said, sometimes reboots — not all the time — sometimes they feel like a money grab.

Lawrence then went on to express how much the cast meant to him, saying that if they came to him ‘destitute’ and in need of an opportunity, he would bring back Scrubs in a heartbeat.

However, he said that would not happen as he described how ‘talented’ the group are and said the only reason they would therefore do it would be to have a little fun with it for their fans.

He then said:

If we ever do it, we’ll do it as a short little movie or something else.

So although we got to see the cast together again on stage, it looks like we might have to wait a while to see them together on our TV screens again.

Maybe Braff didn’t get the memo though, because he posted a picture of the cast together immediately after the reunion:

Season 10? (*9)

Posted by Zach Braff on Saturday, 17 November 2018

Alongside the photo, he wrote:

Season 10? (*9)

Referencing, of course, the all-round dislike of season nine by loyal Scrubs fans. The show was initially supposed to stop filming in 2009 after the eighth season finale ‘My Finale,’ however it did return for a ninth season, much to the disdain of many.

The final season marked a change in the show as it took place in a different location and only three of the seven main characters remained – which, let’s be honest, was never going to be a popular choice.

Here’s hoping Braff knows something we don’t and we could be seeing our favourite doctors a lot sooner than we think.
