Red Dead Redemption 2 really is the game that keeps on giving. The single player portion has more Easter eggs than you can shake a stick at, and it seems that they’re still being discovered thick and fast.
Now I should point out at this point, that this particular egg comes after you’ve completed Chapter 6 of the main story.
So if you haven’t finished that, close the tab, go boot up your console of choice, and get it finished. That or continue reading. I’m not your boss.
Okay all good and ready?
So intrepid Redditor, BrodytheBeast20, has discovered something very interesting in the game’s Epilogue. While playing as John Marston, there’s a dark well near Tall Trees that you can jump down and reveal something pretty damn creepy. Check it out below.
Yes, that is our beloved John Marston’s zombified, skeletal face. Much like the one he has on the cover of Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare’s cover.
Lighting up a lantern will dismiss the ghoulish look returning our boy to his normal handsome self, but it’s still very clear what we’re looking at.
Now apparently, the same thing does happen if you visit the location as Arthur, but it’s not quite as startling a transformation as John’s.
While this is most likely a tongue-in-cheek easter egg by Rockstar, many fans are taking it as proof that we’ll be getting Undead Nightmare some time in the future, which honestly given the number of people calling for it, would be a true miracle of our time.
Since poor Arthur ends up croaking at the end of Chapter 6 (spoilers bruh) it would be quite fun to play again as a zombie version of the loveable outlaw. Maybe even ride again as the whole Van Der Linde gang, rotting their way across the old west.
We can only dream at this point, and Rockstar has only just started rolling out Red Dead Online. It is, of course, worth remembering that the promised GTA V story DLC ended up being lost to time in favour of a more developed online portion.
But damn it Rockstar, some rootin’ tootin’ zombie slaying action would go down a treat.
