You hear that? It’s the sound of one million voices crying out in joy that Obsidian – the devs behind Fallout: New Vegas – are working on a new sci-fi title. Bloody marvellous.
Nearly 3 weeks ago, it was announced that Microsoft had acquired Obsidian to presumably make some spicy new first party games for them. Now, the studio are teasing a brand new title, and it looks decidedly Bioshock-y. So here’s what we know so far.
If you head over to Obsidian’s website, there’s a countdown timer ticking away promising a special message from something called ‘Spacer’s Choice’ or ‘Auntie Cleo’s’ (depending on which screen you get).
Clicking through on the site and you’ll be greeted by a couple of interesting images; one of a space-age pistol, and one of some old-timey but sort of spacey food stuffs and tonics.
The captions that go alongside these images are also very interesting. ‘Auntie Cleo’s is not responsible for any physical or mental risks undertaken by viewing the following advertisement,’ and ‘By choosing to ‘Skip’ you agree to view a message brought to you by Spacer’s Choice that was found to be 89.5% safe for human viewing.’
Shortly after Obsidian made the announcement via their Twitter, The Game Awards head honcho Geoff Keighley said that a full reveal for the mystery project was planned to air during the awards ceremony, alongside at least another 9 unannounced titles.
Very cash money.

That means that until December 6, when the awards go live, we’ll have to keep guessing as to what Obsidian are working on.
Most likely it’s a new IP, but there’s a small part of me that would love to see them tackle something huge like BioShock, just to see what they can do with it.
Obsidian, would you kindly?
Please share with loved ones. from http://bit.ly/2DRDSU2
