After what seems like a lifetime of waiting, I can finally announce that season five of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is coming to Netflix early next year.
That’s right – Jake, Amy, Captain Holt and the gang are returning to our screens just in time to beat the January blues. Can I get a ‘Nine-Nine!’?
In case you need a recap, y’know because it’s been such a long time coming, here’s the trailer:
As we all know, the fifth season of the cop comedy premiered in the UK in March on E4, but unlike the other seasons, we haven’t been able to binge-watch the episodes since.
Primarily because, unlike seasons 1-4, the episodes haven’t been available to watch on Netflix and so we’ve been as deprived as Scully and Hitchcock when they don’t get a hot dog all morning.
But don’t worry guys; Netflix have announced that new episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be available to watch on the streaming service at the beginning of next year.
Netflix initially announced the addition of season four of Peaky Blinders to the service, before mentioning the Brooklyn gang:
(we'll have new b99 in early 2019 and as SOON as we have exact dates you'll be first to know x)

The UK and Ireland Twitter account updated its followers yesterday morning (November 20), saying Tommy Shelby and the gang would return to our screens via Netflix on December 19.
Making reference to the viral meme going around recently, the tweet takes the mick out of itself by referring to the lack of Brooklyn Nine-Nine season five.
In response to their own tweet, they then updated their followers further and gave the people the news they wanted:
(we’ll have new b99 in early 2019 and as SOON as we have exact dates you’ll be first to know x)
Let’s face it, it’s been a long time coming. How are we supposed to binge-watch the series when we’re missing an entire fifth season?
I reckon if Netflix had Amy’s organisational skills we wouldn’t be in this predicament. Sorry guys, it’s true.
Obviously, fans were ecstatic and responded in the expected way (GIFs of our favourite detectives):

And it seems our January blues won’t be so bad after all, because the sixth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will begin on Thursday, January 10 at 9pm on NBC in the US. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer for its UK premiere.
The news was announced earlier this month, when the official Twitter account for the popular cop show broke the news.
They wrote:
Start spreading the news. #Brooklyn99 premieres Thursday, January 10 on @nbc.

Toit! If that seems like too long to wait, look no further because I have just the thing for you. Last month, we were teased with the first trailer for season six.
The teaser only lasts 14 seconds – let’s hope that isn’t the name of anyone’s sex tape – and picks up right where we left off, with Captain Raymond Holt waiting to reveal whether he’s become new NYPD commissioner.
Obviously, we don’t get the answers we crave because he is interrupted by Jake (who else?) who breaks into some spontaneous dance moves.
Take a look at the teaser here:
I don’t know about you but that’s got me right in the mood for a binge-watch. I know what I’m doing tonight!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine will return in the US on January 10.
