Family Guy Takes On GoldenEye 007, And It’s Perfect

Family Guy is a show that thrives on riffing on iconic moments from famous films, TV shows, and various pop culture bits and bobs.

It was only a matter of time then, before it got to the N64 classic GoldenEye 007, and it’s managed to pay homage to the beloved game in perfect fashion.

A recent episode of Fox’s long running animated comedy featured a sequence in which Peter and Meg Griffin have to escape from prison because… well I don’t really know, you’d have to watch the episode.

At any rate, Family Guy decided to show this daring prison escape as a GoldenEye level, presumably because it’s always nice to show Rare’s 1997 classic some love.

The sequence – which you can watch below – is a pretty accurate approximation of the game, complete with identical enemies (who don’t bleed), slightly tinny sound, auto-lock aiming, and a faithful representation of the old UI.

Family Guy has spoofed a number of video games before of course, taking aim at everything from Call and Duty and Super Mario, to World of Warcraft’s infamous “Leeroy Jenkins” moment.

If you want to watch the whole episode for yourself, it’s Griffin Winter Games, and is the seventh episode of season 17. Yep, Family Guy is 17 seasons deep.
