The Xbox One backwards compatibility program continues to be one of the best things about Microsoft’s incumbent console, as a slew of classic Valve games arrive today.
This batch of releases represents some of the very best games that were available for the Xbox 360: Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, The Orange Box, and Portal: Still Alive. What a sexy lineup.
As always, if you have the old discs lying around you can get them installed and play right away, or simply buy them again through the Xbox store if you traded them in years ago like a normal person.
Left 4 Dead and its sequel of course, offer hours of multiplayer zombie killing fun that I genuinely don’t believed has been matched since, and is well worth revisiting this weekend with friends.
Meanwhile, The Orange Box still stands out as one of the very best deals in gaming, consisting of Half Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress, and Portal. All genuinely brilliant games in their own right, that remind us of a time when Valve actually used to make video games.
Portal: Still Alive rounds out the new offerings, and is as mind-bendingly brilliant as it ever was. If you’re a fan of Valve the developer and not Valve the digital storefront owner, this should be a great day for you.

We might not have a Left 4 Dead 3 or a Half-Life 3, but at least we have this wonderful new collection of classic titles to play through on Xbox One now. A reminder of a simpler time, before Steam and CS:GO gambling scandals.
