Ubisoft are custodians of many a classic franchise, but there are two in particular gamers are desperate to see make a return: Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell.
Funnily enough, it turns out that Ubisoft aren’t just holding out on bringing back these two franchises because they hate us, but because they literally don’t have the resources to do them justice.

Ubisoft chief creative officer Serge Hascoet recently sat down with Game Informer, revealing they would absolutely love to see the free running prince and the sneaky Sam Fisher return to our screens one day soon.
He explained:
I love Splinter Cell. I love Prince of Persia. I can’t disclose any information at this time, but I can say we are fighting for resources. It’s not a question of will, it’s a question of means. This tallies with comments made earlier in the year by Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner, who confirmed that he’s “doing his best” to make a new game in the franchise happen.
A new Splinter Cell, meanwhile, seems much more likely. Not only has Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot himself said he’d love to see the franchise come back, Sam Fisher also recently made an appearance for a cameo in Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

Hell, it took Beyond Good & Evil 2 nearly 15 years to get announced, so you should never lose hope whenever Ubisoft are concerned.
