Khabib Nurmagomedov’s $2 million purse has been withheld and he may now be stripped of his UFC title.
Nurmagomedov’s team began an altercation after the UFC 229 fight in Las Vegas, which started with Khabib leaping out of the Octagon to fight Conor McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis after his victory.
Meanwhile, his crew member Abubakar Nurmagomedov entered the Octagon to fight the defeated McGregor. It is thought this incident may have damaged the champ’s blossoming career.
If Nurmagomedov is suspended, his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title could well be taken from him. He also faces potential fines.
As reported by The Independent, UFC president Dana White made the following comments to press when asked about the potential for Nurmagomedov to be stripped of his title:
We’ll see. The NSAC is going to hand down some type of fine or suspension, we’ll see. I don’t know. If he gets suspended, it depends how long it is but yeah he will probably get stripped if it’s a long suspension.Speaking of the incident in question, White made the following remarks, according to ESPN:
It’s bad. There’s gonna be an investigation by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and … there’s gonna be big-money fines, and these guys are in big trouble.
Again, we need to see how this plays out. Nobody has ever done that; nobody should ever do that.
Hey tbh though Conor already had both his belts stripped. He dealt with the legal stuff and went back to fighting no double standard. Khabib is the champ and acted that way inside the octagon he’s gonna have to deal with the stuff that comes his way.— Anthony Cicero (@CiceroAnthony) October 7, 2018
One person fumed:
But he let McGregor fight after he threw a guard rail at a bus and said he was done in the UFC. Makes sense.Another raged:
But what does @danawhite do when McGregor jumps out the cage, or how about when he tries to throw a cheap shot during every weight in??? Anybody?
After seeing Mcgregor cheapshot khabib’s coach while on top of the cage, I think it was a mistake for NSAC to not withhold Mcgregor’s fight purse. He’s clearly involved in that altercation and should also be fined— Meter Pam (@Meter_Pam) October 7, 2018
People who keeping bringing up Conor's bus antics are MISSING THE POINT. Khabib jumped into THE CROWD. That endangers non-UFC people. That puts up red flags to the insurance company and to the fighting commission and to the security and police. That can potentially cost $$$— TJKernan (@TJKeternal) October 7, 2018

One person sighed:
That’s what makes his actions after the fight so stupid. No victory is more complete than making your opponent submit, he had nothing left to prove. This will cost him dearly right at the pinnacle of his career.
He was hyped and adrenaline was at its peak. He made a mistake. Only so much you can take when someone’s talking about your religion and country.— Bird City (@FredoXantana__) October 7, 2018
Jumped out of octagon= possibly stripped of belt.Conor and Dana turned this sport into the WWE. Facts.
Throws dolly through a bus window, injuring other fighters, putting others in danger= poster boy of UFC.

I want to say sorry to the athletic commission, sorry to Vegas. I know this is not my best side.
I don’t understand how people can say I jumped on the cage. He talked about my religion, my family, he came to Brooklyn and could have killed people on the bus.
Why are we talking about me climbing on the cage? My father taught me to be respectful. Today, he tapped, the belt is here, undisputed, undefeated UFC Lightweight Champion. This is a respectful sport, not a trash-talking sport.
I know Khabib went over the cage, which is wrong, but did he ever get a punch off. Security was in between the two men. Was Conner suspended or stripped of the title after his actions in Brooklyn?— Fredrick Smith (@FASSMITTY) October 7, 2018
Ok. Khabib should be suspended. Just wish he would have taken the same action with Connor for the Brooklyn incident instead of saying Connor had been out of the octagon for 2 years and he believed the court process was enough punishment for Connor.— Fredrick Smith (@FASSMITTY) October 7, 2018
