2K has just dropped an awesome surprise announcement: Borderlands 2 is getting a virtual reality edition, and it’s coming to PlayStation VR on December 14.
As you might imagine, Borderlands 2 VR is pretty much exactly the same as the excellent Borderlands 2, the wonderfully anarchic FPS RPG hybrid from Gearbox.
Gearbox have developed this VR edition themselves, and even included a few new features, such as the ability to slow down time so you can better set up your next attack.
To move around, you can either choose between the standard point and teleport of many VR titles, or stick to the more classic joystick-based movement.
You’ll even be able to drive around Pandora in first-person – a feature that was entirely third-person in the original Borderlands 2, so this new perspective is sure to add an extra layer of immersion.
Of course, the the four playable classes from the main game are still in there, too – Siren, Commando, Gunzerker and Assassin. Each has individual skills, but all will have the aforementioned slow-time ability equipped.
Check out the official reveal trailer below:
Will Claptrap still be an irritating SOB in virtual reality? I’d bet yes. I’m also willing to be nobody shows up to his Birthday party – again.
