Domino’s do it well, Magnums now even come in vegan form. In time for Christmas, Asda plans to sell a vegan cheeseboard.
Sadly, and also amusingly, one Pizza Express branch failed to come up trumps for one vegan customer.
When 26-year-old Mary Nesbitt-Larking went to a Pizza Express in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, this is the last thing she was expecting.
Have a gander at this:
Throwback to this monstrosity at Pizza Express in Hatfield. They were out of vegan cheese and forgot my pinenuts…

It looked about as appetising as it sounds. Actually, tbf, given the right circumstances, I’d smash that whole.
Explaining the situation, which cost her £9, she told Femail:
Vegan food options are amazing, and Pizza Express are incredible usually, it was just that one time they failed so epically
It was so awkward because I’d waited over an hour and at that point I would have eaten anything as long as it was vegan. It tasted like undercooked flat bread with a whole tin of tomatoes over it that were really sour, and had raw, red onions on top.

Pizza Express has since apologised, saying:We take great pride in crafting delicious pizzas that our customers love – on this occasion we let Mary down and apologise for her disappointing experience. We are following up to find out what went wrong and, by way of an apology, have invited Mary back to Pizza Express with a friend, to try our new Autumn dishes and dedicated Vegan menu, which includes the new Vegan Puttanesca.Wow! Her friends on social media came out in her support, with one saying, ‘I had similar exp. Pizza base covered in a thick layer of Basil. I called them, demanfed a Refund, they took back offensive pizza with them, which actually looked as though a cow had backed up and dropped a load!’

I don’t know whats worse..that or a time I went for a work christmas meal and ended up with plain dry rice with 3 Brussels sprouts on the side.I’ll let this one slide. Of my scant Pizza Express experiences, they’ve never let me down, but maybe that’s because I’m not vegan. Life, I guess!
